Eef Kerkhof will play for Dutch Eredivsie club PEC Zwolle, signing a fresh contract for the 2023/2024 campaign. The Dutch midfielder, who recently graduated from the University of Memphis, has her sights set on a successful season in the Azerion Vrouwen Eredivisie .
Kerkhof, who in the past has played for PSV Eindhoven and SC Heerenveen, joined the University of Memphis last season. While enrolled in a Masters of Science, Kerkhof played a vital part in an historic campaign for the Tigers, in which they were crowned American Athletic Conference Champions and reached the sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament. The University of Memhis, a powerhouse in college soccer, has an enrollment of more than 21.000 students with their campus located just 5 miles from downtown Memphis. The university hosts a number of sports and has extraordinary facilities to host some of the most talented student athletes in the country.
Fast forward twelve months and Kerkhof returns to Europe with an incredible memory and more importantly a masters degree. And while there were plenty of suitors, Eef’s mind was set on a return to the Netherlands and competing on the highest professional level in the country. Mariksa Kogelman, manager of the women’s department of PEC Zwolle, is incredible satisfied with acquiring the services of the 22-year-old: ”Eef is an ambitious and true team player. I would characterize her as an attacking midfielder with a lot of running ability, who adds a good balance to our roster. I wish her the best of luck next season!”
