Heerenveen, Netherlands – SC Heerenveen Vrouwen have confirmed that midfielder Eef Kerkhof has signed a contract extension, keeping her in the blue-and-white through the 2025–26 Eredivisie Vrouwen campaign.
Kerkhof returned to Heerenveen ahead of the 2024–25 season after previous spells with PEC Zwolle and a successful stint in the United States at the University of Memphis. Over the past year, she re-established herself as a key figure in the midfield, valued for her work rate, tactical awareness, and leadership on and off the pitch.
Her first season back with Heerenveen was marked by consistent performances and a memorable goal in a 5–1 win over Excelsior, where she powered home a lofted strike to seal the victory. She quickly became a regular in the starting lineup, helping Heerenveen secure important results and build momentum for the club’s long-term ambitions.
“I am incredibly happy to extend with this wonderful club.” said Kerkhof. “To perform in such a professional environment and to play in the Eredivisie is exciting. It allows me to develop en gain valuable experience. I look forward to the start of the season, in which I hope we’ll have loads of memorable games!’
Before returning to Friesland, Kerkhof’s career spanned youth football in Brabant, a breakthrough with Jong PSV, and over 30 Eredivisie appearances in her first Heerenveen spell from 2020 to 2022. Her time in Memphis brought silverware and a master’s degree, while a season with PEC Zwolle added further top-flight experience.
For SC Heerenveen, her extension ensures continuity in midfield as the team looks to build on recent strides in the league. For Kerkhof, it’s another chapter in a career that has come full circle—rooted in Dutch football but enriched by international experience.
