Dutch defender Diana Hilhorst is set to continue her career in Belgium after agreeing a six-month contract with Essevee Women, the women’s side of Sportvereniging Zulte Waregem, for the remainder of the 2025/2026 season. The move marks another step in a steadily growing international resume that has already taken her from the Netherlands to the United States, Norway and now Belgium.

The 21-year-old left-back’s journey began in the Netherlands before she moved to the United States, first at Georgia Southern University and later at the University of the Incarnate Word in Texas, where she developed her game and tactical understanding at the collegiate level.

After returning to Europe and signing her first professional contract with Fortuna Sittard in the Azerion Vrouwen Eredivisie, Hilhorst quickly became a solid presence in defense and even contributed on the scoresheet during her time in the Netherlands.

With Fortuna’s women’s team recently disbanded for financial reasons, Hilhorst seized the opportunity to continue her career abroad, moving to Norwegian side Kolbotn in the Toppserien last season.

Now at Essevee in the Belgian women’s top flight, Hilhorst is poised to bring international experience, attacking potential from defense, and leadership to her new team as they push through the remainder of the campaign.
