Dutch defender Sara Vijfhuizen has joined Number Seven Sports. The Providence center back has recently graduated from the Rhode Island college and has her sights now set on her first professional contract.

Vijfhuizen, who first attracted national attention after receiving an NAIA All-America Honorable Mention whilst at the University of Science and Arts in Oklahoma, needed little time to settle in college soccer. During her freshman season with the Drovers in Oklahoma, Vijfhuizen started all 23 games, scoring nine goals and producing five assists. The defender helped guide her team to a 21-2 record and the NAIA National Championship final.

Named SAC Freshman of the Year and in the First Team All-SAC, Vijfhuizen signed with NCAA Division I program Providence College for her sophomore season. Providence College is a highly rated private university with an undergraduate enrollment of 4.279. The athletic department of the school boasts a number of incredible facilities, including the Alumni Hall, the Amica Mutual Pavilion, Glay Field and the Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium, home of the women’s soccer program.

In her final season with the Fiars, the team reached the semifinals of the Big East Tournament and qualified for the NCAA Tournament, eventually losing to Mississippi State in the first round.

With her college career coming to an end, the defender’s focus shifts towards the next career move. Number Seven Sports is excited and proud to work with Vijfhuizen, who we believe has a bright future in professional women’s soccer.
