Former Indiana University captain Sydney Masur has signed a fresh deal with Portuguese club SC Braga. The American midfielder will play for the remainder of the 2025/2026 season for the Liga BPI side, with an option to extend for another season.
Masur arrived in Europe after signing a one-year-deal with Danish side Fortuna Hjorring. During her first campaign in Europe she impressed greatly, being an integral part of the side that won both the league title and national cup competition. Having won the league title, the team qualified for the women’s Champions League.
American midfielder Sydney Masur has taken the next step in her professional career, signing with SC Braga in Portugal. The move marks another important milestone for the young midfielder as she continues to establish herself in Europe following her first professional season in Denmark.
Masur arrives at Braga after spending time with Fortuna Hjørring, one of Scandinavia’s most respected clubs. Competing in Denmark’s top division provided her with valuable experience at the professional level, where she adapted to a fast-paced, physical league and continued her development as a composed and versatile midfielder.
Before turning pro, Masur built a strong foundation at Indiana University, where she was a reliable presence in the Hoosiers’ midfield across four seasons. She appeared in 68 matches, making 56 starts, and logged over 4,500 minutes, helping guide Indiana to the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Known for her tactical awareness, work rate, and leadership, Masur consistently put the team first while contributing offensively and defensively.
Now with SC Braga, Masur steps into a league known for its technical quality and growing competitiveness. Braga has emerged as one of Portugal’s most ambitious women’s clubs, and the signing reflects both the club’s upward momentum and Masur’s own rising profile in the European game.
As she begins this new chapter in Portugal, Masur’s journey from collegiate standout to European professional continues — one defined by adaptability, steady growth, and a clear ambition to compete at the highest level.
